Ford F-150 SVT Raptor Orders Exceed Expectations PickupTrucks.com

Ford has received nearing 5,500 orders for the new 2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor ( please see our fresh road test ) since the truck went on sale late last year. The book is over original projections for the Baja-style off-road pickup.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled with the popularity of the F-150 SVT Raptor,” said Emblem Grueber, F-150 Marketing manager. “Orders have exceeded our expectations. The truck is so hot that we actually wound up building more 5.4-liter V-8 models than we had initially anticipated. The order banks are now open for the all-new 6.2-liter V-8 , and the orders keep rolling in.”
"We didn't prophesy receiving the amount of orders for the 5.4-L V-8 that we have, especially this early in the image year," added Patrick Hespen, SVT spokesman, in an audience with PickupTrucks.com. "That's what's good for us by erection them on the same line as regular F-150: great flexibility."

im looking for a good offroad truck nothin to big but i dont want a suv or a ranger type truck...somthing that looks and performs good>>any idea's
most of the small suv's have AWD or FWD that is best in the snow or rain but not made for true off road duty.
Toyota Tacoma is stiff riding on Hwy but good off road.
any of Subaru's vehicles are tough as nails and reliable.
the Nissan Xterra is the best riding vehicle with a real 4WD.
some ppl swear by Jeep CJ's but their on road ride and reliability are poor.
look for a Subaru Forrester
or Subaru Outlook/Legacy

I am getting a 79 blazer for aboput 1100, in good running condition, what are some mods I should do. Someone said get a 2 barrel carb or something and bigger tires.
Also... do I use 87 octane or 92?
Well, you have many options, depending on how serious you are about offroading, and your cash flow. If memory serves, a 79 will have either a 2 barrel or 4 barrel carb setup on it already. The 2 barrel will help you to not chew up the fuel and the tires quite so much...lol. Seriously, there are MANY possible things you can do ... switching over to fuel injection if you turn the truck into a rock crawler is a wise idea, since carb setups wont have quite the fuel pressure to keep fuel going at certain angles and could starve your engine right when you need it most. There is a lot of missing information to your question, so think long and hard about what YOU want to do with the truck. As far as the fuel goes, 87 octane will be fine for your truck.

Well all half ton trucks are pretty much built the same. I like the look of the Titan over the ford, but it might be easier to get parts and upgrades for the Ford and they wouldnt cost as much. Im curious as to how well the new Tundra would fair as that looks like a pretty mean truck. Anyways my vote would be for the Ford.
