Car Stereo?

Hey everybody. Im a new car owner that knows nothing about buying an enhanced car stereo. Any suggestions or tried-and-true rules about where to go and how to go about it? Preciate it

i prefer aftermarket everything, but i've never owned a new car so i can't attest to the quality of their stereo's.

www.sonicelectronix.com is my favorite place to buy aftermarket stereo equipment

local car audio retailers or places like circuit city or best buy are the best places to get installation of equipment

generally, aftermarket cd players put out better sound quality than stock cd players, same with speakers, but like i said: i've never owned one of the newer vehicles in production.f

if you are satisfied with your current stereo but just want some more bump, hit up an online retailer such as the ones i mentioned. they can provide you with a little bump in the trunk to earth shattering bass.

How do i know if a car stereo will be compatible with my cd changer?

I have a stereo system in my car by pioneer. It has integrated tape, FM/AM, and 12 disc cd changer in the back. I would like to change the stereo without changing the 12 cd changer in the back. How would i be able to know which car stereo models are compatible with my 12 cd changer in the back? Is there anything else i should know about the matter?

The new radio has to have the same type of changer control. for example if you have you have a " P BUS" CD changer "you will know if your changer is "P BUS" if it has a "P" in the model number. For example: cdx-P1280 is a "P BUS" changer and will only work with "P BUS" head units, you will know these head units because they also have a "P" in the model number for example: deh-P3000ib

How can I install a subwoofer if the car stereo does not have an output ?

Hi all, thanks for reading my question!

I have a subwoofer and amplifier from my older car and would like to install them for my new car (Toyota Highlander). The CD stereo is the original stock, and I have already taken it out of the dashboard and checked what optional outputs it has on the back. It actually did not have a subwoofer output. When I asked car audio staff at Best Buy, he said that we can use a splitter (I am not sure if it is correct) and get the cable hooked up from the speakers on the door.

I know if I take my car to car audio shops, I can get it done fast. But I dnt want to leave my car for a few days because I need to drive it everyday. Have someone done this before ? Is there any website that instruct the installation or sell the splitter I have mentioned before ? Thank you, all!

Actually, probably 99.9% of factory radios have no low-level outputs (I had a Mazda MX-6 once that did).

1) You can use what is called "high-level" inputs that many (especially lower-cost) amps feature. This is usually a plug with four wires for connecting directly to existing speaker outputs, usually to the positive and negative of a left and a right speaker. You can do this either at the speakers or behind the radio.

2) Connect a high-to-low adapter, which connects just like the high-level inputs, but drops the signal to a lower level first and uses an RCA cable to connect to the amp.

Why does Pioneer car stereo sometimes go to safety mode when car starts?

I have Pioneer DUH-p4000ub car stereo and a couple of times, when I started the car, the radio was just dead. I brought it into the dealer, the fuses and power in the car were alright, but when they reset the radio by removing it, the stereo worked again. I imagine it's going into safety mode? Can this be because I'm using my car's (protege 2002) original speakers and that they are measuring 4.4 ohms instead of 4? Please help! Thanks!

The speaker impedance is fine.It would be well in tollerance.You have a different problem.Perhaps wiring is defect when radio is all the way installed. Theres not much room and wires can be pulled. plugs pulled out fuse holder wire pulled away from fuse ect..Also could be a defective radio

What is the best car stereo and speakers?

i just recently got a car, and i would like to replace the old crappy manufactured speakers and stereo thats in my car. I've heard pioneer is really good. What should i look for when i buy a stereo and speakers. I know i want loud and clear sound, as well as some good bass. Should i get a sub as well????

Pioneer are very good indeed. So are Kenwood.
You will have to find out what size the speakers are in your car at the moment so you know which size to look for. Then you can have a look around at some speakers and check the reviews.

You could get yourself a small sub woofer but this will be quite expensive and you'll also have to use some sound absorbing material for best sound and so you dont piss off everyone with the great big thudding of the subs.
