The unmanageable was few people had ever heard of the concept. Maybe they weren’t content to believe it. Maybe they weren’t ready to upon it. Whatever the reasons, the business didn’t grow as pronto as Cassidy initially expected.

That’s the challenge of creating a position within a niche. The concept of a mobile tire service is taking off around the state as several small businesses spring up. It’s still a very new idea, however.

“I’m not honestly selling as much as educating,” said Steve Nugent, proprietor of Rolling Rims, another mobile tire service.

Once people make real what he does, they become really interested, Nugent said. And once someone tries the sevice, referrals typically reinforce.

Nugent jumped into the business after getting frustrated while waiting for tires. He saw a windshield replacement wares go by and wondered if the concept could be applied to tires.

Cassidy had been in the tire point in Pennsylvania. When he moved here, he started thinking about how to apply what he knew to a new way of doing task.

How do I go about getting tire chains?

I am planning a ski trip and understand I need to at least have tire chains with me. Anyone know where to buy them (I'm guessing walmart?) and about how much they cost?

Any auto parts store. Advance, (someone already provided you a link to it), NAPA, Pep Boys, etc. Some WalMart's also carry chains and tire cables.

One thing you do not want to do is purchase them once you get to that state. They tend to be higher if you go to purchase chains in a state that has chain laws, especially if you buy them on the day that the state has issued a chain up alert.

Can you drive with tire chains the whole winter season with out removing?

Or can you only use tire chains in snow?

I noticed that no one mentioned that, on dry roads, chains don't provide safe traction for controling and braking the car at most, normal driving speeds.

That's why, in most states cars with chains have set speed limits at a maximum of thirty-five mph, or so. Any faster, and the metal parts of the chains slide right over the hard pavement without providing any grip.

Just wanting to know which states require the possession of tire chains in the winter months. Thanks.

I've heard of sections of Colorado, New Mexico, and Nevada in the mountains that require them, but statewide, I don't think anyone requires them.

Though, here in Michigan, tire chains are illegal to put on your vehicle. Mainly because it tears up the roads something horrible.

I am a truck driver and will be doing a lot of winter driving soon. I am looking for a good work glove to put on tire chains with. I have tried almost anything out there, and other than having to switch out my gloves every 15 minutes when they get wet, I am at a loss as to what to do. Any suggestions?

look for rubberized work gloves. I think they have like a rubber type coating to make them waterproof. I wish I could point you in the right direction but I can't......... sorry

What are SAE Class S Cars for fitting snow tire chains?

I want to figure out if I can use my snow tire chains from my old car on my new car. The storage bag for the chains says they fit SAE Class S cars.

Tire size must be known in order to select a tire chain of correct fit.

For passenger cars, vans and small pick-up trucks it is important to check the owner's manual.

The restricted wheel well clearance in most of today's down-sized and front drive vehicles may require the use of SAE class "S" tire chains, as noted in the vehicles' owners manual.

Class "S" is a minimum clearance requirement set by some vehicle manufactures.

To determine if your vehicle requires Class "S" tire chains, refer to your vehicle owners manual (usually listed under "tire chains" or "snow chains") or contact the vehicle manufacturer or dealership directly.
