NASCAR considers spoiler change Lexington Dispatch

NASCAR officials are bearing in mind a change to the car's spoiler soon, possibly as early as the 500-lap anyway in the reality at Martinsville Speedway on March 28. NASCAR's way of doing things is as a rule gradual, so using the spoiler in select events throughout the salt will most likely be the game plan until all the questions concerning use with the COT are worked out.

Since the car first raced in Demonstration of 2007 at Bristol Motor Speedway, putting it into services has been NASCAR's most radical move since its inception 62 years ago. The reasons for it are mere: Safety has always been first on NASCAR's list of criteria for creating, with stronger game among the 43 Sprint Cup drivers coming as a result. But over in the good old days b simultaneously, the car has seemed too good, offering crew chiefs little to rectify in such areas as the car's chassis and sway bar. In many cases, the lowering and adding of tire pressure seems to have made the most rest on the track.

Since day one, the COT has carried a large black spoiler with wings on its sides, described as a ungainly apparatus that's hanging on the back of the car on short tracks, intermediates and superspeedways over the past three seasons. They hadn't had such a detail since very high thin pieces of metal were seen on Plymouths and Dodges during the 1969 and 1970 seasons.

Where can I go to see if my tire pressure gauge is accurate?

I am OCD about tire pressure. My gauge is a good one, but I would like to compare it to some sort of proven standard. So if my gauge reads "33 pounds" and the standard shows 35 pounds, I'll know to add 2 pounds to my gauge's readings.

When I go to buy a thermometer, I compare them all and average them out. Then I take that average to buy a thermometer. That's the way you test you're tire pressure gage. Check it with at least 2 more gages and take the average. You may be surprised how much some will vary. I have seen some gages off by as much as 15 lbs. And they were the expensive ones! Also, you are suppose to check tire pressure when cold. Other wise, check them after they set for 30 minutes.

Why is my tire pressure gauge not giving a reading?

I'm trying to air up all my tires. The gauge itself is working properly on the other three tires. I would guess the last tire has somewhere around 20psi. None of my gauges will register anything but work perfectly fine on the other tires. The normal sound of air escaping when I put the gauge in place is there but very quiet. Did something in the tire get blocked? Is it safe to try and air up the tire?

change the tires air valve,,,,not the rubber stem,,,just the valve.

brand of accurate tire pressure gauge to buy?

What is a good brand of tire pressure gauge to buy. I am checking motorcycle tire pressures of 32 and 35 psi and I want to invest in an accurate gauge. I have seen drag racers use a dial type, Is this the type to buy?

Acu-Tire
Victor
Tru-Flate

Those are all some good brands, with Acu-Flate bieng the one I would recommend. They range from 8.99 to 39.95

Will bending the tire nipple cause the pressure gauge to read higher?

I have this hub cap that conceals the tire nipple. In order to get at it, I have to bend the nipple to one side to get around one of the spokes on the hub cap. Will this effect a pressure reading with a tire gauge? I have it pumped up to the appropriate pressure, but it still looks low. I can't take the hub cap off unless I take all the lugs off.

Yes. The pressure will go to zero when you break the nipple off.

how do I read the calibrations and measurements on a tire pressure gauge for a car???

I need visual know how of how to read a tire gauge calibration measurements or maybe what do the numbers mean??

PSI= Pounds per square inch, its how much air pressure your putting in your tires, look at where your door opens where the date and origin of manufacture stickers are and it will tell you the recommendations for your tires, Only use the type of pressure gauge that has the arrow on it, the ones that look like ballpoint pens arent accurate. If your tires take 33 psi for example, you will put air in your tires with an air compressor for a while, then check the pressure with the gauge if you have put in too much you can let out air by halfway inserting the gauge
